Who We Are
OUR STORY
by Anna Rocha, Co-Founder & President
Dora Tapioca Crepe was born when I helped my daughter, Isadora, to overcome her allergy to gluten. When we moved from Brazil to San Diego, Isadora as a teenager had a difficult time adapting to the local culinary and few gluten-free alternatives. So I began making tapioca crepes for my family, and our friends loved them. To make the crepes, cassava starch is moistened with water, and then sifted through a fine sieve to produce a snow-like powder. When this is sprinkled onto a hot skillet, it quickly melts together to form a crepe. I knew I had something special when people began asking me to prepare tapiocas for our community events. My family decided that we could not keep our delicious, gluten-free Brazilian food to ourselves, so we started the Dora Tapioca Crepe shop. We named it after our daughter Isadora, who served as the inspiration for this new venture. Dora Tapioca Crepe is a mission-based company, and we are passionate about making and sharing real food, gathering with our community, and advocating for healthier lifestyles.
